		<description><![CDATA[GradSchool is the University of Newcastle’s Postgraduate program. This is a case study of the how The Content Agency used video content and distribution to increase new student registrations.]]></description>
				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><b>GradSchool</b></p>
<p>GradSchool is the University of Newcastle’s Postgraduate program which offers a wide range of courses delivered both online and face-to-face. This allows GradSchool students flexibility in how they undertake a course which means they can fit the course in around the demands of work, family, travel etc.</p>
<p>The problem that GradSchool were facing was that the message about flexibility wasn’t getting through. GradSchool wanted to increase registration numbers and the key to that was getting across to their audience the advantages that flexible course delivery offered.</p>
<p><b>The Solution</b></p>
<p>By <em>showing</em> prospective students that flexible course delivery could allow them to fit a post-graduate course into their lives, rather than just telling them, we hoped to change the attitudes of prospective students. We produced a series of online videos featuring GradSchool students telling their own stories, about their experiences. The students in the videos are a trustworthy source for the audience of prospective students, and importantly they identified with the with them&#8230;if she can do it, so can I.</p>
<p>Another crucial element of each story was finding out what the postgrad course meant to our narrators, and how it made them feel. This gives the audience an emotional connection to the stories, and starts them thinking about what completing a post-graduate degree would feel like for them. By telling stories with an emotional element we are producing content that is much more engaging, and more likely to resonate with the audience and cause the audience to act.</p>
<p><b>Distribution</b></p>
<p>The online videos were placed on the GradSchool site and we also undertook a distribution campaign to increase brand awareness and spread the word about GradSchool. Focusing on the more business-oriented content we identified blogs and sites that were thought leaders and influencers in the sphere and placed the videos into those sites, some with editorial writes ups. We also undertook a paid media campaign throughout related-subject sites to add to the scale.</p>
<p><b>The Results</b></p>
<p>The videos produced for GradSchool have been viewed over 18000 times in total and more importantly, in that time GradSchool has seen a 20% growth in registrations for their courses, which represents a fantastic return on investment. Here’s what Mat Sharman, General Manager of Marketing at GradSchool had to say</p>

The ultimate challenge is a limited budget to achieve the level of reach, visibility and trust required to position our offering firmly within the hearts and minds of an audience that is both diverse and well informed.</i></p>

We were delighted to then be asked to produce a series of online videos for the launch of the new website. The videos were aimed at different cohorts of the higher education market to bring to life what UTS is like, and why it is the right choice. We interviewed current students and past students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, to find out what make UTS different and what they got out of studying there.</p>
<p>The resulting films give prospective students a positive feel for what the university is look. It allows them to see UTS as vibrant and exciting and full of opportunities. It allows the university to make an emotional connection with its audience&#8230;rather than telling prospective students that UTS is the best choice, we show them.</p>
<p>The videos are shot using a variety of techniques including time-lapse cameras on sliders, as well as video, to create a textured and visually interesting film.</p>

The University of Newcastle wanted to show prospective students that it is manageable, and that there is support available if they need it.</p>
<p>We suggested a video that doesn&#8217;t take itself too seriously as the best way to get the message across. Justine, one of the Universities Student Ambassadors, does a very good job of being honest while letting her sense of fun shine through.</p>
